Joubert

I spend about 50 percent of my time talking about food, trying to decide what/where to eat, or looking at recipes on tastespotting. Then about 35 percent is dedicated to eating... or maybe I have that backwards... either way... 85 percent of my day, I am thinking about food or eating food.

In France, I have such a hard time deciding what/where to eat. One thing I have missed from "home" is the quaint fooderie called Main Squeeze, which dished up the most wholesome, hearty, and healthy treats and dishes that had my tastebuds happy for days. Not to mention, their breakfast burritos were the greatest hangover cure of all Columbia, Missouri.

I have finally found the one place that offers that same cozy feeling. Joubert is my new favorite epicerie in Bordeaux. The refreshing sea green store front is as precious and inviting as its owner, Marie. The food is what keeps me coming back and wanting more.

Warm soups packed with flavor in all the right ways. Toasty sandwiches with oozing cheese and deliciousness. My personal favorite is Bayonne-Vacheron.

My inner-child and starving sweet-tooth beg for sugar. No meal is complete sans dessert.
Chocolate chip cookies so moist they float apart in your mouth. And did I mention, Joubert serves up the BEST fondant au chocolat I have ever tasted in France.

Joubert is located at 51, rue judaique in Bordeaux. It is around the halfway point from Gambetta and Meriadeck.

Check out their blog to find out what's cooking.
